Amano's stijl zie je beter terug, al is het zeker nog geen 1 op 1 adaptatie.
VAMPIRE HUNTER D 1985 ORIGINAL DUB UPGRADE
Verder is het een stevige upgrade tov de 80s animatie. Maar ga gewoon voor de Japanse, die is ook niet meteen uitzonderlijk, maar haalt wel een normaal basisniveau. Eén van de eerste anime die specifiek met de Westerse markt in het achterhoofd werd ontwikkeld en daarom ook een Engelstalige primaire dub kreeg. Normaal probeer ik altijd voor de originele dub te kiezen, maar die is hier zo enorm brak dat het gewoon niet aan te horen valt. The locations are sometimes reminiscent of the macabre places of, for example, The Lord of the Rings, while the massive flying desert giants are reminiscent of Dune. This is wonderful horror with a high fantasy content. Because of the English dub, the film reminded me a lot of the many cartoons I saw as a child. The drawing style is pleasing to the eye. Until then, enjoying great action, funny characters and a true masterpiece on a visual level. The story seems simple at first, but towards the end there are interesting twists, making Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust clearly more than just another good versus evil action lick. Het mag duidelijk zijn dat ik deze duidelijk beter vind dan de Vampire Hunter D uit 1985.Įnjoy, and nothing more than enjoy. In het eerste uur is het zo dat de ene confrontatie de andere in rap tempo opvolgt, waarna later het gas teruggenomen wordt voor een mooie afsluiting. Het ziet er cool en erg fantasierijk uit. De visuele kwaliteiten gelden ook voor de monsters, locaties en de actie. Post-apocalyptische settings, zoals hier in Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust, vind ik extra interessant als er een goede scheut horror/fantasy aan verbonden is. De locaties doen soms denken aan de macabere plaatsen van bijvoorbeeld The Lord of the Rings, terwijl de massaal vliegende woestijnreuzen, doen denken aan Dune. Dit is heerlijke horror met een hoog fantasygehalte. Door de Engelse dub, deed de film me erg denken aan de vele tekenfilms die ik als kind zag.
Tot die tijd is het genieten van puike actie, geinige personages en een op visueel vlak een waar meesterwerk. Het verhaal lijkt aanvankelijk simpel, maar tegen het einde komen er interessante wendingen, waardoor Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust duidelijk meer is dan de zoveelste goed tegen kwaad actieflick is.
